Welcome to Mirrored Creations DBA: Henriksen Painting! I'm Leah Henriksen, a licensed paint contractor based in Bakersfield, CA. Since 2015, I've been transforming spaces through vibrant and meaningful murals, specializing in creating stunning artwork for schools, churches and business around Kern County.

But who is Leah?
Born and raised in Bakersfield, CA, I'm proud to be living my dream life. As a little girl, my career goal was to be a mom and an artist—2nd grade Leah would be so proud. I married my high school sweetheart, Darrin, in 2013, and we started our life together. He was newly hired with KCFD, and I worked a clerical job at a local high school while starting an art business with my twin sister, creating random signs and artwork (hence Mirrored Creations). Our passion for art grew, leading us to paint murals in homes and churches and design Vacation Bible School stages annually.
In 2017, with the birth of our first child, I quit my clerical job and decided to study for and pass the California Contractors license test. This allowed us to expand our business and target schools. After the birth of my second child in 2019, my sister moved out of state, leaving me worried about managing the business alone. With my husband's support and a desire to show my kids that mom can succeed, I persevered. I gave birth to my third child in 2021, completing our family. Despite the busy life of a stay-at-home mom, homeschooling, and running an art/painting business, my passion for art remains strong.
But why Mirrored Creations?
The founders, Rachel and Leah, are actually mirrored twins (mirror twins are identical twins who have opposite traits, as if they are mirror images of each other). Rachel and Leah have always been artistic and loved to create, even as little girls. During their childhood, they worked with an art mentor who helped develop their passion for art, a fearless mentality, and the confidence to take on massive projects. They painted Vacation Bible School stage sets every summer, and as young adults nothing changed. Rachel and Leah were quickly commissioned to paint signs, canvases, murals in nurseries, and much more. With a desire to make it their “side hustle” and a bit of that fearless mentality, they started a small art business—Mirrored Creations. Over the years, the business has evolved from just a Facebook page and a simple business license to include insurance, a contractor's license, and much more. Despite these changes and the need to adjust their DBA names to comply with various rules, the original name and passion that Leah and Rachel started the business with remain!
